Testing task: Read a partially checked checkbox in reading mode

With JAWS in reading mode, describe how JAWS behaves when performing task "When the reading cursor is on the first checkbox, read the first checkbox. Note: it should be in the partially checked state."

Test instructions

  1. Restore default settings for JAWS. For help, read Configuring Screen Readers for Testing.
  2. Activate the "Open test page" button below, which opens the example to test in a new window and runs a script that sets focus on the first checkbox.
  3. Verify the Virtual Cursor is active by pressing Alt+Delete. If it is not, turn on the Virtual Cursor by pressing Insert+Z.
  4. When the reading cursor is on the first checkbox, read the first checkbox. Note: it should be in the partially checked state.
  5. Using the following commands, When the reading cursor is on the first checkbox, read the first checkbox. Note: it should be in the partially checked state.
    • Insert+Tab
    • Insert+Up

Success Criteria

To pass this test, JAWS needs to meet all the following assertions when each specified command is executed:

  1. Role 'checkbox' is conveyed
  2. Name 'All condiments' is conveyed
  3. State of the checkbox (partially checked) is conveyed
